Common Services Centers Scheme
Government of India has formulated the National E Governance Plan (NeGP) with the vision of providing all government services in an integrated manner at the doorstep of the citizen at affordable cost. The Common Services Center (CSC) is a strategic cornerstone of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), as part of its commitment in the National Common Minimum Programme to introduce e-governance on a massive scale. The CSCs are envisioned as the front-end delivery points for Government, private and social sector services to rural citizens of India, in an integrated manner.
Each CSC is equipped with IT infrastructure and connectivity operated by a local village level entrepreneur. The CSC envisages a bottom up model for delivery of content and services that can allow like minded public and private enterprises through a collaborative framework to integrate their social objectives into a sustainable business model to achieve rapid socio-economic change in rural areas.
